Take our survey-
The transformation of Tysons Corner from a suburban office park
to a vital, vibrant urban center has begun in earnest. Signs of this
transformation are everywhere, as is the additional traffic
congestion associated with it. Utility location along Route 7 marks
the beginning of Phase I of construction of the extension of the
Metrorail system through Tysons Corner to Wiehle Avenue. Formal
groundbreaking is expected in March 2009. Construction of the HOT
lanes project is visible on Route 123 and all along I-495 Beltway
and I-95.
All of this presents huge challenges for your
business and your employees. The Virginia Department of Transportation
is charged with developing a plan to manage the traffic efficiently
through the five year period of construction. Their efforts include
communication, incident management, and employer outreach. TYTRAN is
working closely with their staff to coordinate these plans.
However, government efforts will not be a total
solution. Businesses and employees must do their part to help
themselves. A first step is to identify the individual within each
business who will coordinate the company's efforts. Second, determining
what strategies are currently being implemented and their level of
participation will help to identify the most appropriate additional
actions.
To that end, below is a link to a short survey that
will help TYTRAN determine a base line for our efforts. Please complete
by close of business, March 9. If you prefer to complete a printed
survey, click here.

TYTRAN and its members have worked
tirelessly since 1981 to achieve an effective, coordinated
multi-modal transportation network within the Tysons Corner Area
that supports the community’s economic prosperity and quality of
life. This challenging construction period is a major step toward
achieving our vision.
